Caper Menu
SKILLS:
TYPE-SETTING, DESIGN, PATTERN, PRINT, DIE-CUTTING
Caper is a fictional, fine-dining establishment that serves authentic Italian cuisine. I imagine the space to feel like a homecoming: warm, welcoming, and overflowing with irresistible scents of peppery olive oil, fresh pasta, and brined delicacies. I picture worn, brown leather booths, tiling and mirrors behind the wooden bar, and candlelight filling the space.
With this in mind, I set off to create a suite of menus that felt warm, textural, and elegant. Inspired by scenes from Florence, I designed a pattern based off of antique Italian tiling that was then used to create a die-cut band around the front of the menu’s leather binder, as well as screen printed onto coasters. Overall, this project was a love-letter to paper and an initiation into the world of print production.
